Our board invites you all to join us in celebrating and thanking Karen Anderson for her contributions to California Jump$tart Coalition. Karen is one of the founding members of California Jump$tart and has retired from her Board seat after 22 years of incredible work advancing financial education.
Karen often shared that the best part of the Jump$tart Coalition is the community that has been created among the many organizations and individuals involved in youth financial literacy. She recalls how over the decades CA Jump$tart has been at the forefront of advocacy, communication, education, recognition and gatherings for the community. And how, working together, we have the tremendous ability to create stronger financial futures for our students and for our state.
Prior to retirement, she spent 30 years in marketing and management for consumer products and financial organizations. During her 15+ years in credit, investment, and retail branch banking Karen saw the need for consumer education in money management and developed an interest in expanding financial literacy for California’s youth.
As a long-time resident of Los Angeles County, Karen enjoys contemporary art, travel, her Westie and sharing stories over a cup of tea. Her joy and passion for empowering students, families, and educators will carry on in the programs she developed and the leaders she’s mentored.
Karen previously served as the Chair of the California Jump$tart Coalition and as a Board Member of the California Council on Economic Education. Karen has inspired thousands of educators through our Financial Foundations for Educators programs and as a volunteer for community programs with the California Council on Economic Education.
